How to Make History: Confessions of A Vegetarian

31 Jan

It was an evening like any other.  Class was done, dinner was through, I was back from the gym, with a craving for orange juice.  Little did I know that I would make world history, and do something that had NEVER been done in the history of MAN.  My friend Kari and I get into Shafer, and pass the vegan station on the way to the juice machine.  It was serving something so tempting I couldn’t resist.  Three words:  Vegan Sloppy Joe.  SO GOOD!  We both had two sandwiches, and looked at each other.  We were both thinking the same exact thing.  I quickly chugged the rest of the water in my bottle, and we hit the bar again.  Unfortunately, when we went back for more, we ran into a high school friend who was visiting…he saw Kari, but I ran…(over Christmas break I was exposed to a portrait of his…and I can’t look at him the same now)…Anyways, we both get another bowl and sit down nonchalantly.  She starts spooning the Joe into my bottle, and I put the buns-all four in my pockets.

That is an original story, something that has NEVER happened EVER, ANYWHERE in the world- stealing vegan Sloppy Joe in a water bottle and buns in my pockets.

And THAT is how you make history.

Meatless in Seattle…/VCU

I’ve been trying so hard to be a vegetarian lately.  The food choices are alright, but I’m also lactose intolerant, so if it ain’t topped with meat, it’s topped with dairy – so my diet consists of salad, or potatoes.  I’ve been taking my vitamins too, because I need those nutrients, but even when I eat all of my fruits and veggies I’m still sluggish all day, and waking up in the morning is impossible – I’ve stopped showering for that extra half hour of snooze.  AND I make up for my lack of meat by consuming chocolate.  Maybe all of the sugar from the chocolate is what’s causing my immune system’s failure.

And yes, Bekka,  I am my father’s daughter, and I do have meat running through my veins, but I’m doing it for the animals.

Until the next blog, here’s to hot dog wishes and bacon dreams.
